Lochan a' Chait, Abernethy National Nature Reserve, Cairngorms National Park, Scotland

There were photographic hopes from my hike from Nethy Bridge to Aviemore in May 2023, not all of which were realised. It so happened that it took me until Ryvoan Pass to capture anything that took my fancy apart from this image that I am including here.

Making a photo of Bynack More, the top of which I reached a few days earlier in not so sunny weather, was one such hope that was scuppered by flat lighting and heat haze as well as where it was with respect to the position of the sun at that time of day. Meall a' Bhuachaille was another prospect that did not work to my fancy on that occasion.

Sometimes, patience is of the essence when getting a picture that works for you, and this was one of those days. Thus, the above image of Lochan a' Chait in Abernethy National Nature Reserve offers its compensations just north of where quite a few people were assembled around Ryvoan Bothy in the warm sunshine. Moving swiftly onward took me past any huddles of humanity to quieter reaches again.
