An Corran, Trotternish, Isle of Skye, Scotland

With all the jagged beauty that you find on the Trotternish, it is easily to forget to gaze upon the gentler landscapes around there too. In that vein, here is how things look when you turn your eyes south from Digg towards Staffin and across its eponymous bay. The juxtaposition of low level countryside like what is lain before you above and the contortions of the Quiraing is a striking one, and it's the former that hosts the vibrant communities that live around here. That stub of land extending into the sea is what gets the name of An Corran and the low-sized Staffin Island lies not far offshore; its highest point of 21 metres above sea level must make it vulnerable is sea levels ever rise as some expect.
