Portree Harbour, Isle of Skye, Scotland

Having a name derived from the Scots Gaelic for King's Port (Port Righ) should mean the Portree has a harbour, and it is one surrounded by houses adding a dash of colour. In its own way, the result is reminiscent of Tobermory or West Cork villages like Castletownshend or Baltimore. This is also the place to go on Skye if it is seafood that is amenable to your palate. It's certainly a good site for all of this with a sheltered inlet with added coverage offered by the island of Raasay as if Skye's indented coastline wasn't up to the job on its own, even with a certain eastern aspect.
