Staffin Bay, Trotternish, Isle of Skye, Scotland

The day before this piece of exploration was undertaken could not have been more rough with wind whistling and rain lashing as Scottish Citylink coaches took me from Edinburgh to Skye. Dry interludes in Fort William and when I finally arrived in Portree saved me from the worst, but the day after was to be a classic, showing how changeable the Scottish weather can be. It certainly showed coastal views at their best so long as I pointed my then newly acquired Canon EOS 300 in the right direction. Being new to it all, I may have left the camera do too much, so I get to wondering about focussing when I look at this juxtaposition of smooth cultivated coastal land around Staffin Bay and the rougher stuff behind it. With regard to the latter, you do wonder how people make a living up, but there are numerous houses dotted everywhere, making it feel a little like what you'd find on the Beara Peninsula in Ireland. As if to accentuate that wonderment, then there's the Quiraing looming behind them.
