Dun Deardail, Glen Nevis, Lochaber, Scotland

It is hard to go into Glen Nevis without encountering the West Highland Way and that's what you need to do in order to reach our first vantage point. My first venture this way was Inspired by the photos of Colin Prior and in hope of seeing some snow, I took the Sleeper to Fort William from Crewe and enjoyed a stellar stroll on a wonderful January day in 2006. That walk was to take me along the WHW and then onto a path to the hill of An Dùn, on which the old fort of Dun Deardail is found. June 2024 saw me go this way again and that is when I captured the scene that you see here that looks back towards Fort William and what lies further west beyond it. The shadows of winter are absent during summer with green replacing brown as the predominant landscape colour.
