Though following the above track through wonderful countryside as far as it went may have been a tempting proposition, the expanse of the countryside put paid to such a notion. Without either a long summer day with ample hours of daylight or an overnight camp somewhere, reaching the likes of Fort William, Corrour Station, Loch Treig or Spean Bridge felt foolhardy, especially when the wildness of the less urbanised destinations is considered. A hike from Corrour Station though the Grey Corries to Spean Bridge confirmed that for me, splendid though that was.
Thus, I halted at an appropriate moment along the shoreline of Loch Eilde Mor. It was when I again reached Kinlochleven, that I could have continued a little more. Nevertheless, erring on the side of caution always is best. Adventuring on the shores of Loch Etive after a late start from Loch Awe station with an ascent over Lairig Dhoireann to reach Glen Kinglass all led to a late arrival in Taynuilt necessitating the use of a taxi for making a return to Oban after a lengthy wait outside the eponymous hotel; thankfully, they sorted me out when it came to calling one to me. Throwing caution to the wind that is best avoided, even near midsummer.
