Loch Lochy, Achnacarry, Lochaber, Scotland

This is the north-eastward view along Loch Lochy. The Great Glen Way is, like the West Highland Way, an undertaking lasting a week or more. Once past Loch Lochy, a long loch, the way then passes Loch Oich and Loch Ness, much longer than Loch Lochy, before terminating in Inverness. The country through which the way passes is also isolated in places, so you need to be prepared for this. It does have one advantage over the West Highland Way, though, in that it is dog-friendly throughout. Incidentally, there is also an off-road biking trail that shadows the long distance footpath for those of that persuasion.
