Loch Shiel, Glenfinnan, Lochaber, Scotland

After the exertions of reaching the top of Beinn a' Chrùlaiste from Glen Coe the previous day, I fancied something less demanding given the pervading heat at the time. Thus, I followed up on a brief visit to Loch Shiel on an overcast day in January 2011. The level track was just the thing for a weary body on a sultry day. While heat haze presented photographic challenges, there remained much to enjoy. Using a bike could have helped, even if walking means that you have ample stops for surveying all that surrounds you, hardly an advantage of slower travel at which to be sneering.
