Ben Cruachan from Kerrera, Oban, Argyll & Bute, Scotland

Ben Cruachan from Kerrera, Oban, Argyll & Bute, Scotland

My first visit to Kerrera could not have been more different to the one in May 2008 when I capture the scene you see above. In that November 2002 visit, skies were grey and there were spells of rain at times, one soaked us on the road back to Oban. As you should have realised by now, that did nothing to put me off and this is a glen on the island with Ben Cruachan rising up at the right. It certainly shows how relatively low-lying the land is between this vantage point and those lofty hills when you realise that the height above sea level is in the range of 100 to 200 metres. There is a lot hidden too for there is no sign of the Sound of Kerrera or Oban Bay and some would be forgiven for not believing that this was an island at all.
