Balloch Castle, West Dunbartonshire, Scotland

Balloch Castle, West Dunbartonshire, Scotland

Once I reached Balloch, I went doing a spot of exploring that eventually took me into Balloch Country Park. In the heart of the park, there is the castle that you see above; both it and the surrounding park are now owned by West Dunbartonshire council and are open to the public from dawn to dusk every day. Though well frequented thanks to a good train service between Balloch and Glasgow allowing easy access for the denizens of that metropolis, it does have its quiet spots as was proven by the previous vista of Loch Lomond. And the crowds do head away again in the evening restoring things to piece and quiet, guaranteeing scenes like that which you see above. Speaking of crowds, the 1999 Loch Lomond Invitational was going on around the time of my visit, but it did not impact on things that much for me; it was eventually won by Colin Montgomery, one of Scotland's own.
