Craigmichen Scar, Moffat,

Craigmichen Scar is about 5 miles (or 9 km) from Moffat, so it was a two-hour walk from my final destination of Moffat when I made this exposure on my 20 mile (32 km) hike starting at St. Mary's Loch. Due to land slippage, the Southern Upland Way was re-routed just east of here, although I am unconvinced that the new route is better than the old one. The same land slippage is visible on the slopes of Craigmichen Scar, and it amazed me that there were sheep grazing its steep eroded slopes on the evening of my passing. This isn't countryside where you can leave a dog off the leash.
