Ben Nevis, Glen Nevis, Lochaber, Scotland

Ben Nevis, Glen Nevis, Lochaber, Scotland

You don't see much of Ben Nevis from the floor of Glen Nevis, but even a short ascent will reward your efforts, even if the really dramatic view of the Ben is on the other side. This view may miss out some of the creases on the side along with the main cleft, which has been carved out by Allt na h-Urchaire and marks the changeover from Meall an t-Suidhe to Ben Nevis itself. Also missing is the line of the path from Glen Nevis up the to top of the Ben as it turns to follow the burn, a route as yet untravelled for me but thinking about it now makes the prospect that little bit more likely. What you get to see instead is the floor of the glen, where I have traipsed on a few occasions, especially during the early years of my exploring Scotland.
