Meall Bhalach & Beinn a' Chrùlaiste, Kinlochleven, Lochaber, Scotland

Meall Bhalach & Beinn a

When you are out in the hills, and have traipsed an area a few times and in different places, then you can put together some of the pieces. This view from the West Highland Way while heading south to Kinlochleven from Fort William somewhat proves the point. The descent into the former is near at hand, with views of hills accessible from Glen Coe in the background.

Beinn a' Chrùlaiste is on the right, which I had all to myself on a sultry July day in 2013, enjoying all the surrounding vistas even if photography was challenged by heat haze. Then, I journeyed to the summit through the bealach between my planned summit and the looming hulk to the left: Meall Bhalach. Allt a' Bhalaich acted as a navigational handrail on the day as I traipsed into Coire Bhalach in advance of the final push for the top.
