Stob Bàn, Lairig Mor, Lochaber, Scotland

Stob Bàn, Lairig Mor, Lochaber, Scotland

It was while on a summer break in July 2003 when I first laid eyes on this scene on a dull, overcast if dry day during an all too often soaking stay in the area. That day was cloudy and was the only dry day that I encountered on my stay in Fort William (the wetting that I got should put me off forever, but I still return and plan to continue doing so; maybe you can see why). I still saw the potential and returned on the last weekend in August of the same year and the start of June in 2024, the latter being when I captured the photo that you see here, one of many that delight anyone following the West Highland Way in these parts. The spectacular white cap of Stob Bàn is really set off the greens of the landscape in the Lairig Mor with the mountain in question forming part of the formidable barrier between the pass and Glen Nevis.
