Looking towards Liuthaid, Ardvourlie, Harris, Western Isles, Scotland

The sight of a new bench in the middle of wild surroundings is an odd one the explanation above is that it sits beside the Harris Walkway, a walking route fashioned from an old mail track through the island. It was launched by Cameron McNeish in the early years of the century and I wonder how this seat appears nearly a decade after this photo was made. The hilly surroundings look benign in the image, but it is not always like that. Elsewhere in Britain and Ireland got a week’s soaking while I largely escaped further north. You have to enjoy your good fortune while you have it.
