Loch Teanga, Lochskipport, South Uist, Western Isles, Scotland

Though loch-strewn, the ground in this photo does look more negotiable than it is in reality. My trot around Lochskipport revealed a promising sign that I believed would allow a way to the higher ground you see in the photo. The initial impressions were misleading for I found confusing terrain that stymied such ambitions. Sometimes, it best not to leave signage and guidebook descriptions lead you along. An assessment of what you actually have in front of you is always best. It was when I was retracing my steps on the single track road that this scene sought to erase any sense of long-forgotten disappointment.
