Uisgneabhal Beag & Uisgneabhal Mor, Harris, Western Isles, Scotland

Harris is a rocky place without that much in the way of good agricultural land. Its south-western portion fares better though folk were cleared off it to less productive south-eastern lands in previous centuries. What was an injustice for many sours the story of what otherwise is a pleasant place to visit, and I reckon that National Park status would be justified. After all, those rockier parts are good places to explore on foot and I found the scene above while trotting along the coastal single track road from Meavaig to Tarbert. Along with Oireabhal and Sròn Scourst that are seen in another photo in this album, Uisgneabhal Beag & Uisgneabhal Mor rise up above the latter on what became a memorable evening for all the right reasons.
