Despite appearances, this photo features a scene captured from a roadside. Careful composition can produce illusions like this. To northern European eyes, this even might appear to be a summer scene, but it was midwinter when I was tramping around Mallorca. The mix of ostensible summer weather and shorter days was new to my senses, so I now wonder if it confused them enough to make me feel poorly later on in the trip. Still, this was enough of a world away from everyday life that it offered respite and a chance for some relaxation.
