Cyrn-y-Brain & Creigiau Eglwyseg, Llangollen, Denbighshire, Wales

Here, Cyrn-y-Brain is at the left with a valley separating it from the cliffs of Creigiau Eglwyseg. From this vantage point not far from the top of Vivod Mountain, a lot is hidden. Llangollen may as well not exist at all on the basis of what you see above and both the River Dee and Castell Dinas Brân fall into the same category. With that in mind this spot could be described as a world away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. As I made my way up towards this point on what now takes on the characteristics of a plateau in my mind's eye, I was struck by the intrusion caused by whistling by a heritage steam locomotive. Normally, I overlook these things, but this episode made me understand the complaints of John Ruskin and others in the nineteenth century.
