Glaslyn, Llanberis, Gwynedd, Wales

This is one of those photographs that I have difficulty figuring out where exactly it got taken. Is what you see above Crib y Ddysgl with Glaslyn in front of it or Crib Goch with Llyn Llydaw? After looking at maps, I have gone for the former and believe that the well-defined hump gives it away. However, you have to keep an eye out for deception and the Miner's Track looks like an unmetalled yet well-built single track road up to Glaslyn so some might be tempted that the way up Snowdon retains those characteristics. Of course, the reality is very different, and it's a narrow footpath that takes up steep slopes from Glaslyn. It wasn't just hillwalking types that were using it on the hot August day when I passed the way, and it was disconcerting to see many clad only in summer leisure-wear making the ascent too. Given that I don't have the same level of trust in mountain weather, my level of equipment must have looked incongruous to the others. Whatever they thought, it's best to be safe without feeling sorry afterwards.
