If you need an excuse for stopping on the way down to Cwm Idwal passing by Twll Du, then this photo should demonstrate that there plenty of excuses for doing that. Just make sure that you don't get in anyone's way if you do so and that any tremors in your limbs should have a chance to dissipate because the descent is steep if well-paved. The photo you see above comes from 2022, when I redid an early effort that was captured on film on the last Sunday in July 2004. The large shadow comes from the lack of height of the sun rather than cloud cover, yet it does not spoil the scene. Well, it certainly looks dramatic and Llyn Ogwen is on view near the top right of the photo with the bulky mass of Pen yr Ole Wen to its left.
