RMS Empress of Japan Figurehead, Stanley Park, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

What you see in the photo is a replica of an original figurehead from an ocean liner that plied the Pacific between Canada and Asia. The ship itself was launched in 1890 and was scrapped in 1926. It was then that the original figurehead was saved for posterity and located here until 1960 when the replica replaced it. The original subsequently was restored and nowadays is on show at the Vancouver Maritime Museum.
