The ferry route between Tsawassen on the mainland and Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island is a busy one yet the vessels sail through what looks like a bottleneck: the narrow strait between Galiano Island and Mayne Island. The latter appears to the right of the above photo with Mount Galiano being the dominating hill, even though its summit height only reaches the 300-metre range. It is as scenic a location as the other Gulf Islands though and that easily compensates for any slowing of progress that requires use of the ship's horn.
