Beaver Lake, Stanley Park, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Apparently, someone thought it sensible to introduce water lilies to Beaver Lake a few decades ago and resulting eutrophication has all but killed the lake. In fact, those managing Stanley Park expect the lake to turn into part of the woodland floor within a few more decades. As such, it acts an example of how a lake reached the end of its life rather than the large picturesque body of freshwater that I might have expected. What once was supposed to add colour now has caused something very different and acts as a warning to the rest of us.
