This may appear an isolated location but Squamish was near at hand and there were others about, even though this was on a Monday. Warning signs about the potential presence of bears and other wildlife were a reminder to remain vigilant and make noise on the trail to avoid unpleasant encounters. There were none of those and a boisterous bunch of kids may plenty of noise anyway. They might have been accompanied by adults, but there was sense in this and one of the leaders was singing as they cycled along, a very Canadian approach to the necessity of making wildlife aware of human presence.
