In Stanley Park, you will find a collection of totem poles like this one that produced the best photo. The installations represent something of a comeback for the indigenous peoples whose culture once was suppressed. In fact, these things are produced in miniature souvenir form either by indigenous folk in Canada or in somewhere like China. The latter may be cheaper, but it is better to support communities in Canada by buying the former and one of those came home with me from a shop located in Stanley Park itself. It now sits on the mantle piece in my bedroom along with other mementoes like a representation of Norway's Preikestolen. Travelling overseas can decorate a house.
