Looking across Drakes Bay, Point Reyes National Seashore, California, U.S.A.

Where you can look south, you also can look north. There is another photo in this album showing a southbound view along the coast in Point Reyes National Seashore. What is not so visible here is the geographical feature that gives this place its name. Distance and the stretch of land leading that far west conspire to defeat any attempt to capture a distant vista. Instead, you get the expanse of Drakes Bay with some nearby coastline that I shadowed on the return to Bear Valley Trail on the return leg of my hike back to the visitor centre. That took less time than might have been expected, so I started my return to San Francisco in the Marin County heat. Neither did I dawdle in San Rafael for I ventured to El Cerrito by bus for onward travel using the BART before more strolling took me back to my hotel, perhaps going by Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill for I did that at least once during my stay in the San Francisco Bay Area.
