It is staggering just how wild some of the coastline near San Francisco feels and here is an example. The city is at hand, yet you can feel a world away from it, a useful thing if you need a quick getaway. Things feel even wilder on the Marin County side of the Golden Gate, so much so that I scotched thoughts of going that way. Public transport connections were part of the decision process though it is the hilliness that really decided me. There was enough to savour without adding that.
